How to do a Love Dare Event in Your Church
August 4, 2009Fireproof is one of the most talked-about movies in recent years. Both the movie and The Love Dare has attracted worldwide attention and still changing lives. So, generating excitement in your church should not be too difficult for you… Just check out the stories that are being added daily!
So, here is my question… Would you be willing to host an event that can renew and save marriages, encourage healthy relationships, and provide opportunity to dialog about real life in real marriage? Bigger question to consider: Would you be willing to invite your community? This opportunity has OUTREACH plastered all over it. Don’t miss out!
Here’s how you get started:
#1 – find a “passionate: on-fire for marriage” event coordinator.
#2 – download the free Love Dare Event Guide. Follow the basic steps to pull off a successful event. (includes church campaign, timeline, fast track plan, frequently asked questions, marriage covenant renewal program). There are 3 scenarios outlined in the “Guide” to help you determine which type of event to conduct: You decide what works best in the context of your church.
- a Fireproof movie event.
- a campaign that includes the Fireproof movie as a launch for small groups.
- or offer only the small-group Bible study

Gary Chapman Sharing About His Marriage
August 3, 2009This past weekend we were in Louisville, KY at Valley View Church for another LifeWay sponsored Gary Chapman marriage conference. We had a wonderful time with several couples in attendance. Even though Dr. Chapman was under the weather a little bit, he still managed to entertain with ease and teach biblical principles towards marriage. He is one of the few communicators I know that has the gift of writing and speaking.
Recently we sat down with Dr. Chapman and asked him what was hardest for him to learn in his own marriage. See his response below. By the way… If you lead a marriage class or nearly/newly married class, check out our DVD driven study on the Five Love Languages. Have your couples start speaking the right love language to their spouse! Currently, the Five Love Languages is in 38 languages, the most recent Arabic, and this week or next it will hit 5 million copies sold. It is truly amazing to see how God has used this resource for couples.

Resource Highlight: Love Dare
June 11, 2009Marriage is hard work. Some don’t work hard at it. Many don’t survive the first few years. Celebrating a fiftieth, or even a twenty-fifth, wedding anniversary is rare these days. Divorce rates among Christians are as high as those among non-believers. We have allowed the postmodern mindset to convince our churches and our couples that divorce is now acceptable rather than an exception. We now justify divorce as a solution. It’s not God’s solution. God allows divorce under specific and limited terms. He allows it because of the sinfulness and hardness of man’s heart. When marriage is no longer compatible with the age, the age needs to change, not the institution of marriage – Michael Catt, pastor of Sherwood.
So why not Take the Dare? The Love Dare Bible Study. It’s about love, both what it is and what it is not (1 Corinthians 13). This experience is about learning and daring to live a life filled with loving relationships. This journey begins with the person who is closest to you: your spouse.
Pastors have access to sermons. Check out the free sample of Love Dare that is available as well.
“Fireproof doesn’t mean that fires will never come, but when they do, you’ll be able to withstand them.” – FIREPROOF the Movie
